Japan is – unexpectedly – one of my favourite destinations. A crazy cheap deal on flights saw my friends and I jump on a plane to Tokyo from Amsterdam for just €340… and we wasted no time on our adventure around the Land of the Rising Sun, sojourning Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima in just under three weeks.
The spontaneity of the trip meant that I had little time to build expectations, so when we arrived in Kyoto – a city I had only heard of in reference to Geisha – I was almost instantly overcome with it’s magical, ethereal, beautiful vibe. And despite three non-stop days of rain, that magical little spirit was not once diminished. In fact, the moments spent strolling around in the rain, discovering ancient temples and deserted cafes with our umbrellas held high above our heads, are some of my most cherished memories from an all-around 10/10 trip.

Very cool that there are such cheap flights available! Next time you come to Japan, and are interested in a budget-friendly destination, please come to Shikoku!

Yes, it’s incredible – it really opens up the whole world. I’ll definitely be visiting Japan again, so I’ll make sure it’s on my list! Thanks for the tip 🙂
