Within the Arctic Circle: Tromsø, Norway

fottles-travels-tromso-2

When I was in Norway, I was so, so lucky to be able to visit Tromsø, which is right in the North of the country. So North, in fact, that it is actually within the Arctic Circle. If I’m being honest, the city was pretty boring. It was cold – obviously – the weather was pretty blah, and there really wasn’t much to do at all! The main attraction is the opportunity to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights… we were a little before the start of the season to see the mystical Aurora, so all in all it was a bit of a let down. Until the last night, when the Aurora unexpectedly came out in FULL force. I didn’t get any pictures, as 1) my camera just wasn’t good enough to do the view any justice, and 2) I just wanted to take in everything I was seeing with my own eyes. Sometimes it’s good to lay the camera down to rest for a while and enjoy what’s before you.
