Near Death Experience in Victoria Falls

white water rafting in ZAMBIA

This picture was taken whilst white water rafting in Zambia, in the Zambezi which forms from Victoria Falls. As can be noted from my facial expression (I’m the girl in the green shirt screaming very open mouth-edly), it was without a doubt, the most terrifying thing I have ever done in my life. A lot of fun… but when the possibility of death is mixed with fun, well, for me, that’s not that fun anymore. Our life raft was slightly broken and not inflated enough, so every rapids – of which there were many – we flipped. No matter how hard I held on, I was going in that water. I survived the most dangerous rapids in the world and I’m glad I did it, but I will not be doing it again. Ever.

I had a near death experience too while rafting in Zansakr in India. It is scary to be twirling around in the water. That was 5 years back. I still have not gone rafting ever again but one day I want to get over that fear.

Wow! I just recently watched a youtube video on rafting in Zambia. I told my husband I would never, ever. Thanks for confirming this and for sharing your awesome photo! πŸ™‚

I’m glad that I didn’t watch the video beforehand… there’s no way you would have got me on there! It was intense. I’ve white water rafted before, but this was a complete new level!

Thanks so much for your comment!

This sounds so scary!! I did white water rafting in New Zealand and we even went down one of the biggest waterfalls in the world that you can raft down but we didn’t flip once. Which I am so glad about because I would have been petrified! As scary as it might have been, at least you can say you’ve tried it once πŸ™‚
